Water pump failure analysis and treatment

 


Different types of pumps, the failure of the form of expression is not the same, but in general, there are 5 common characteristics.


(1) insufficient flow;
Causes: lack of impact of water flow is the water pipe leakage, valve leakage; water plugging; water depth at the end of valve insufficiency; the pump speed is too low; the impeller sealing ring or excessive wear; high water exceed the standard.
Treatment methods: check valve and water pipe, blocked the leak source; clean water inlet sludge or blockage; water depth at the end of valve must be greater than 1.5 times the diameter of the water inlet pipe, increase the water depth at the end of valve; check the power supply voltage, improve the pump speed, to replace the sealing ring or impeller; the installation of pumps to reduce or replace the high lift pump.


(2) power consumption is too large
Cause: pump speed is too high; pump shaft bending or pump shaft and motor shaft misalignment or not parallel; selection of the pump head is not suitable; pump suction or sediment blockage; motor ball bearing damage.
Treatment methods: check the circuit voltage, reduce the pump speed; the relative position correction of pump shaft or adjust the pump and motor; appropriate lift pump; clean sediment or blockage; the replacement of ball bearing motor.


(3) violent vibration or noise of pump body;
Causes: pump installation is not fixed or water pump installation is too high; motor ball bearing damage; water pump spindle bending or with the motor spindle is not concentric, not parallel.
Handling method: install the stable water pump or reduce the installation height of the water pump; replace the motor ball bearing; correct the bent main shaft of the pump or adjust the relative position of the pump and the motor.


(4) overheating of drive shaft or motor bearing;
Causes: lack of lubrication or bearing breakage.
How to do it: add lubricating oil or replace the bearings.


(5) the water pump does not produce water
Causes: pump body and suction pipe are not filled with water; the water level is lower than the water pump filter pipe; water pipe rupture.
Processing method: remove the end of valve failure, filled with water; reduce water pump installation, and make the water pipes under the water level in the dynamic, or moving water pipes or filters and then pumping; repair or replacement of water pipes.

Centrifugal pump (slurry pump) operation should pay attention to the following points:

 

  1. Prohibition of waterless operation, do not adjust the suction population to reduce displacement, prohibited under low flow operation;
  2. Monitor the operation process, completely prevent the packing box from leaking and replace the stuffing box with new packing;
  3. Ensure that the mechanical seal is adequately flushed and water cooled bearings prohibit the use of excessive water flow;
  4. Don't use too much lubricant;
  5. Check according to the recommended cycle. Set up operation records including running hours, filling adjustment and replacement, adding lubricant and other maintenance measures and time. The centrifugal pump suction and discharge pressure, flow rate, transmission power, the temperature of the wash and bearing, and vibration should be recorded regularly.​
